Spring Break, Kites & Fablehaven

What a delightful week this has been. It is our Spring Break and Noah has been loving every minute of it. Our daddy has been able to be a little bit flexible with his work schedule this week which has made for some fun times. (I just wish he could be a little bit more flexible with the Bishop schedule, but that didn't seem to come with any vacation days ...;o) Yesterday we went to Bartz Field to fly kites. Hands down the best place in the world to fly kites. We got three $1 kites from Wal-Mart and went to town. Of the three only two worked really well. Poor Noah, his kite only wanted to fly sideways and nose-dive. Ella's kite on the other hand was pure kite perfection. She could not get that kite to crash, and think about the control a 2 year old has over a flying object. That Little Mermaid kite followed her around like an airborne puppy. Watching her was one of those perfect moments in time. I watched her experience all the joy and amazement of something really new and really cool. I do love it when motherhood offers you a gift of a little moments that you will always remember. Ella then decided she wanted to kick at the molehill dirtpiles and let Noah take over Little Mermaid. Lauren had a Barbie kite with pink tails. Oh yes she was in kite heaven!
I have also been given some time off by Chris being around during the day to read the 5th Fablehaven book by Brandon Mull, that came out this past Tuesday. EXCELLENT! I do think he packed a bit too much into one book and it might have been better if there was a 6th instead of cramming it all into one book. But all in all a great conclusion to an excellent series. Yes, it does follow the new formula of regular kids finding out they are not normal, finding out only they can save the world etc. BUT, I do think he brought enough inventiveness to the genre to secure this series a spot as one of the best of this type of book.
What a great week!

  1. OHHHH can't wait to read it!!! I can't decide if its worth it to buy the last one in the series because I'll have to get all of them if I do or just wait on the library waiting list for the next few months :)
