The Wonder of Water Noodles

I think water noodles have got to be one of the best dollar store items I have ever invested in. First of all, $1.!!! In the kid world anything from the dollar store already holds excitement and wonder. I don't know what it is about a trip to the doallar store, but my kids go crazy.
We have used water noodles for:
playing quidditch as broomsticks
they have been horses
they have been used in the pool
they have been used by 9 year old boys to beat each other senseless
they have been lightsabers
water-canons (fill with water and blow on one end)
My favorite use so far and this is one. (And you will only discover it on a hot day with two bored 9 year olds). If you shove a piece of sidewalk chalk in one end and shove the tube of the bicycle tire pump in the other and pump, the chalk will shoot out of the end and fly while a little poof of chalk dust makes it look like smoke from a cannon. All of our sidewalk chalk is in pieces, but thats ok, because you can shove pieces in the end of the noodle and then it (according to Noah and Kamran)looks more like a real firework.
