Rainy Day

Dear friends, it is a dreary, drizzly morning here at our house. I have to confess that my girls are firmly planted in front of the TV, and i am still in my pjs with no real intention to get out of them. (Isn't that wonderful!) I feel like making hot chocolate and celebrating our first truly frumpy day of the fall.

Noah is loving school so far this year. His spelling list blows me away, and of course he is as much a reader as ever! Sometimes he will just dissappear and we will find hime holed up reading a book that he just can't put down. I discovered a new series that I am excited for him to start. It is called "How to Train Your Dragon, Heroic Misadventures of Hiccup Horrendus Haddock the III, translated from old norse by Cressida Cowell" Delightful! It is really funny and very boy. I think it will be a great read for him. It has enough to be a challenge for him but is still designed for that middle reader.

I am still loving Allie Finkles Rules for Girls. I just got the 4th book in the series and I am sure you all know what my afternoon will be. I can't wait for my girls to be able to read these books. Allie has such a cute "voice" and is so true to her age. I love her confidence in navigating the sometimes mean world of girls. I need to start my own list of rules for moms of young kids, that I make up as life happens just like Allie. First would be: make sure your kid knows the top of the all but full box of mini-Nilla wafers from the bottom. Yes, wafers everywhere!

Ella has been using a flashlight as a microphone for singing her ABC's song. Oh so cute...I love this age. This age is why people have more kids. It lulls you into thinking that all kids are as cute as this all the time. The trick is to avoid that trap :o)

So besides typing my stream of thoughts out for you I have also been trying to find a new hat pattern. I found this one, obviously not so much for a girl, and I think a little young for Noah but with Halloween coming, super cute, telll me what you think!

  2. You should read Allie Finkle thats for sure! Someday Amelia will love her. Hiccup has a definite Puck element to his books (which I must admit is what keeps me laughing.)
